• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Oh, I should add that the Pearloid Block statement that you saw, was most likely a mistake by someone in Gibson's web dept. All LP Custom's have Mother of Pearl (which is NOT plactic) inlay.

It's not a case of false advertising...it's just a human typing error.

That may be true but IIRC the Gibson brochures of the time ('02 or so) also said "pearloid" for the '68 Flametops. That was not a "reissue" guitar because Gibson never made a Flametop 68 Custom (in '68) to my knowledge. I seem to remember lots of black Customs in stores back then but maybe I wasn't looking a flametops at the time.

If any printed or internet material claimed that a 68 RI Gibson Les Paul Custom had Pearloid inlays...then it was wrong. Companies have misprints in catalogs and circulars everyday. It happens.

I don't see why you're getting all bent out of shape, michaelmadeja.....we've pretty much concluded that they aren't plastic. And I wouldn't be surprised if the 05 BMW wouldn't claim to be faster off the line because of the "special alloy lightweight wheels". :D
