Old speaker/tubes question

I acquired an old Victor projector and speaker cabinet in very good condition and very cheaply (because in the ad it showed an old Jensen speaker). After getting it home and taking the housings apart, I discovered:

1) The speaker is a Jensen P12P Concert Series, Codes: 220212, C5394 25166 (and it looks almost MINT condition!)
- I've found lots of info online, but very little on this specific speaker-

2) the tube compliment for the projector is as follows: RCA 5U4 G (I assume rectifier tube) x1, RCA 6L6 G (I assume power tubes) x2, and one each of 6J7 and 6SJ7 (I assume some sort of pre amp tubes) that are black plastic or metal?

If anyone has any knowledge they'd be willing to school me with, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

Cool. That thing has great tube compliment. They are similar to a Fender Tweed Super V from 5B4 or Pro 5B5. Yes, the 6SJ7 and 6SJ7 are preamp tubes. The are octal tubes precursors to the 12a-- preamp tubes. They sound great for old school guitar overdrive. Based on those tubes, the amp is pre 1960s probably pre 1955.

Let us know the model number of the amps. There maybe directions for modifying them on line. If not I would find a tech who could tweak the preamp section to match one of the referenced Fenders above. It shouldn't be too expensive maybe $200.

Nice score. The tubes and speaker might be from the late 40s / early 50s.
The Jensen dates to the 12th week of 1952.(or 1962)
Photos would probably help to confirm.

And it was stored in a warm dry place- the pins on those tubes are in great shape. I would still have a tech check it out- the filter caps are probably dead and gone. And don't worry about boxing up this speaker and putting something else in there- play it and enjoy it and if it blows get it reconed. It looks like there is plenty of life in there.

That P12P looks really nice!

Bell & Howell 16mm projector cabs also came with alnico Jensens all through the '50s and much of the '60s, including P12Ps at least as late as '63. Those later ones had a glossy battleship grey finish, with lots of radial spokes on the frame. Earlier ones for B&H had textured hammertone frames. Yours is exceptionally sharp looking, with the old early '50s label! Imagine it sounds good in the right application. What's the DCR reading? Old projector amps sometimes varied in preferred output load. Most were predicated on the possibility of running additional cabs, sometimes in parallel, sometimes in series.

I'm thinking of making a slightly bigger tweed champ cab/baffle that would fit the 12" speaker. I'll check the DCR reading tonight. Sorry for the delayed response, works been a zoo!?
