• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi friendly LPF folk! Wanted to share my latest acquisition here after about 5 months wait but well worth it! Simon Long of SVL guitars made me my dream Strat. It’s his ‘61 Reserve model. I specified hardtail, aged Olympic White and a LARGE neck profile. Its the best Strat I’ve ever played and I’ve owned lots of real vintage Fender Strats (‘56-‘63) over the decades. Tremendous sustain and rich sound, plays like butter with 10s. I’m a happy camper and enthusiastically recommend Simon’s work! Photos follow...best, RAB

Sounds great thru my stable of old Fender amps; ‘61 brown Deluxe, ‘62 brown Vibrolux, ‘64 BF Princeton, Deluxe and “tuxedo” Bassman! :dude:

I like the specs, the guitars, and the people who play them :)

I myself like fine-tuned vintage concepts as well. For example, I like a 57 strat, but I'd need bigger frets, flatter radius (on frets themselves or the board), a stronger bridge pickup, tone control on the bridge, etc.

Seems the 61s on the website have the historically correct 61 pickguard screw spacing, so I guess your's is a unique bugger :) Did you get 6105 frets on yours? sure looks like it.

Thanks for your comments. I pointed out the pickguard issue to Simon and am awaiting his response. :eek:la

All, as an update, Simon responded timely to my question about the pickguard configuration. He noted that his guitars are meant to be tributes to the Classic Year S guitars they represent. Hence such things as pickguard screw hole specifics may differ from pure vintage year details. A very reasonable and much appreciated response! Best, RAB :jim
