• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Need Opinion about This Classic

Bought this 1992 Classic Plus a few years ago for $1800, just thought it was beautiful. After reading posts somewhere, it looks like these early 90s classic plus are sought after guitars. Is it really the case?

This Classic had broken head and was repaired. I did not like 496/500T pickups, I think they sound terrible. I replaced them with Slash APH-2S and now they sound fantastic.

I would like to hear some opinions/history/background about this guitar or classic in general from you guys and how much it worth in the market now..much appreaciate it.

I think you are correct (but I'm no expert) that the 90's era classic's had a little extra something to some people and thus they might sell for more.
however with the broken/repaired headstock this extra value is probably lost.
so if you were planning on caching in on this I wouldn't bother. especially if you like the guitar.

The “Les Paul model” decal does make this more collectible.. as it places it in the first run of classics.. not sure how much more value it’ll add though..but as mentioned the headstock break devalues it considerably..

That's a beauty, an early Classic. Enjoy it and get it working well for you, that's where the value resides.

@walkingtuna love your avatar pic, BTW.

Yes, I bought it with repaired done on it
That much money for that guitar with a repaired headstock seems a little high. You ask about the value of your guitar. I would think that you might not be able to sell it for as much as you paid for it. Although with the price of new guitars these days, you never know.

I hate to be in a minority here but I can't see paying that kind of money for a Guitar w/ broken headstock. there are just too many good solid guitars right now to choose from. but good luck
