In my last batch of Antiquities I got a couple Reverse Zebra bridge pickups (Screws in the black bobbin). Not sure if there would be an interest, but I thought I would list them here before I put them up for the general public:

1 ea. Bridge Rev. Zebra, 8.56K

1 ea. Bridge Rev. Zebra, 8.68K

Also have a couple Double Creme Necks:

1 ea. Neck Double Creme, 7.41K

1 ea. Neck Double Creme, 7.58K

Sorry no double creme bridges at this time. I do have a couple sets of black bobbins available though. As soon as I get my inventory down a little bit I will be ordering some more.

Please e-mail me at : blackerosecustom@home.com if interested

Thanks,

John

Hee hee hee, RICH I think there may be a lineup, get in there dude! :dude

I don't know if there's much chance a bridge Antiq would randomly end up being cream AND at 9K. I may actually resort to taking an average value one to a local rewind specialist and have him top it up, not rewind but just add to the existing windings with the correct wire to get each bobbin up to or a little over 4.5K ... ;)

Hot Antiquity ...

Rich,

Rare but possible!! I think I have had a couple units in the 8.9 range although I can't remember if they were creams.

If you send me an e-mail with your contact information I will save it in my followup list. I have a few guys waiting for certain stuff now, mainly real low or real high resistance numbers.

Custom Shop

Ed,

I think the custom shop can do pretty much whatever you want as long as that much wire will fit on the bobbins. :-) I THINK on a custom shop order they can even do coverless double cremes or at least a very light solder job. The downside, of course, is the extra cost.

I am thinking of approaching them about the possibility of doing a quantity run of Alnico V double cream antiquities just to see if the pricing would be reasonable.

John, email me your phone number : rafalko@airmail.net
I already have a good neck DC , I really need a birdge antiquity, and Ive wanted the 9.15K or higher for a long time. I might be better served ordering the bridge pickup and letting RICH buy Ken's Antiquities. But I'll want to talk to you before I make a decision.

John,
Custom Antiquities with Alnico V in double cream at 9K+!!! Yum.

Ed, do whatever the CS will allow, but let me know soon.

Rich, do you want these pick-ups if Ed bales? I guess you sort of did "want" them first. It wasn't clear to me if you were seriously interested in the other thread or just trying to fire up Ed. If you want them, I am going to have decommit the pair to another members and probably p*ss them off.

Let me know.

I'm going to go the Custom Shop route, Ken. RICH, Brian, Steve, flail away! Good luck to the winners.

Custom Shop

I just talked with Duncan on the Custom shop pricing:

Custom wound double cremes with either Alnico II or Alnico V magnets are $185.00 each plus shipping. No quantity discounts.

Lead time is up to 10 weeks!! It normally doesn't take that long but she quoted me worst case.

The pickup must be sent with the cover in place but they very lightly solder it.

No problem Ken, I'll take them. My other guitarist needs a set, so if I don't find a use for them, he'll take them from me. I kinda liked how they sounded with the 57 classic magnets also, so thats more incentive!!! make SURE they are both double cream!!!

If I were you guys, I would try to find an older Antiquity. They stopped doing something in the process lately. I have a 1995 double cream rated at 8.34. There was a noticeable volume difference when I swapped it out with a newer one rated at 8.61. Teh newer one was less dynamic and sounded a lot weaker. It is really hit or miss with these things. I would not base all my judgement on ones that have a high OHM reading. You may want to buy a couple and play with them.

Also, Rolph can make a PU that will smoke the Antiquity for about the same price.

Yeah sure, when Rolph gets around to talking to us and taking orders again sure.
And it's always been that way with pickups- higher resistance does NOT mean higher output.

I think the tone signature (color) comes from the coils, and the output comes from the magnet's strenght.

Am i right ?

Action Music is in Arlington VA.....great store, and the owner (Matt Baker) is a straight-up guy. I was there last week, and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) came in to check out speaker cabs...cool!

website is http://www.actionguitar.com/

Thanks Guy's ...

Thanks to you guy's I have been able to move these along. I can now put in an order for some more (hopefully) creme humbuckers. I will let all those who are patiently waiting know when they arrive.

I also have a couple sets of Antiquity P-90's in stock if that floats anybody's boat. I have both creme and black.

Thanks again,

John

John, I tried to email you however your email address came back undeliverable. Probably due to @Home going under? Do you have a new email address? I am interested in the cost of a Zebra (or reversed Zebra) as close to 9K as possible.

Thank You,
