THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
WE HAVE MOVED THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER! Let us know how it is going! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
i think someone posted those in the 'tech' or 'guitar shop' sections awhile ago. Pretty sure it was on the new forum, so try searching for it. Not sure about the strat, might be thick to 'bolt on' and it may make it a little neck-heavy
The impression I've been getting it that they're a bit "all-over-the-place", but I could be wrong. You might be better finding the BOTB book, which lists neck dimensions of all the guitars in the book.
I've noticed on the 6 or 7 01's that I've checked out, the necks seem to be getting smaller and a bit wider. I verified this with a caliper comparing two 01s to my Y2Ks and they are different.
When I tried out a dozen or so R8's and R-9's a few weeks ago, no 2 necks were the same. The R8 I bought sounded and felt great to me but ironically had one of the fatter necks....very hand filling.
JeffF, I don't know what the 'official' dimensions are, but I have measured a bunch of neck thickness dimensions. These are 1st and 12th fret dims, measured with a dial caliper just beind the fret. My '01 R9 does indeed have a smaller neck than the '99 or '00 guitars that have passed thru my hands. Some other dims are provided for your reference. One other issue to keep in mind is that the shape of the neck will have a major impact on how the neck feels in the hand...
