• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

My first semihollow: ES 335 TD walnut

I had tried a few 335 maple and 345 but they didn't sound far enough removed from my Les Pauls for me to reach for my wallet; the walnuts sounded great: a bit mellower or smoother and 'hollower'. I'm gassing for a Sadowsky semihollow but I thought this looked too cool and sounded very nice. s/n 686145

Can anybody tell me anything about the stamped Gibson humbuckers? They sound pretty good. The guitar sings sweeeeeeeeeetly through my Soldano gear or into a Zendrive hitting a '66 Fender BF Super Reverb.

I can't believe what I've been missing out on for all these decades sans a semihollowbody guitar.

Seems to be 72 ES335 (those engraved pickup covers appeared only in this year). Pickups should be patent number sticker T-Tops. Nice guitar and is collectible in these times too. :)

Great lookin' guitar, congrats! The walnut refers to the finish as it's still a maple bodied guitar.

I didn't know that. Well, even though I feel a bit stupid now, these sounded mellower: maybe woods, pups, trapeze tailpiece....who knows. Probably one of you guys. Thanks for the info. :)

Sounds/looks like you picked a winner! I often can't put my trapeze 335 down.

Don't. Sometimes it all just comes together in a particular guitar and makes it work for you. Congratulations on discovering how great a good 335 can be.

I am not usually a fan of the walnut finish, but that one looks great. Welcome to the club.

Now, what was that secret handshake?

I can't do the true vintage handshake as my hand is crippled from gripping this dang 1 9/16" neck. :)
