• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thanks mthrunn - they both sound amazing and I cant decide. The SLE's have a sweet top end, and the MT-102B have a real bite.
Hmmmmm - not sure.

I would value any other opinions from those who own or have owned both pickups at some point. What was it about each of them that you really liked. Would still be keen for TM1's opinion as well. Thanks again guys

Isnt this the 'burst with an amazing history to it ? I could have this all wrong, but If Im right it could perhaps be the first sunburst Les Paul in the UK, brought over by Kieth Richards with a b7 Bigsby attached. A young Yardbirds era Jimmy Page was photographed recording with it at Olympic, and later Eric Clapton used it briefly after his own 'burst was stolen, still with the Bigsby attached.

Im just guessing that ownership may have remained with Kieth Richards during this period and would explain how Mick Taylor came to be using it with the Stones (Bigsby removed).
This is my personal speculation btw and should be regarded as such.

Nope, they’re repros of the ‘58 burst on the cover of Ya-Ya’s.

My mistake,
Am I perhaps partly right in thinking the guitar was owned by kieth Richards, and that this 'burst has the marks of a removed Bigsby when it was being used by Mick Taylor ?

I'm glad you posted this; I just ordered a set of these! I've changed pups in my BB Std twice & still haven't gotten the sound that I know can come from it. I'll post an update when I get 'em installed but right now I'm stoked...

Got 'em installed & setup - they sound great, everything I expected. It was a surprise how close (balanced) they are- didn't have to raise the bridge as much as I thought I would.
