I recently install a Mojo Tone Quiet Coil '56 P90 in my Les Paul Jr. When playing alone, I can hear a slight difference between the Mojo Tone and the stock Gibson pickup. Some of the P90 detail isn't quite there. However, as soon as I played it in the band mix, those differences fell away. You get the snarl and the grind that a good Jr should have. Just without the noise. I highly recommend this pickup if you are looking for P90 tone without all of the hum.

My '59 Jr didn't have the original P90 in it when I bought it, so I dropped a Mojotone hum cancelling P90 in it, after trying a couple boutique P90's (which sounded really good). I agree with what you said. There's a bit of a tradeoff, but getting rid of the 60 cycle hum is a big plus.

Love the sound of B&G Kikbuckers.

Stacked P90.
