• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

yeah single...I know Martin's site lists it being a '58 junior but I recall him stating somewhere it was a '57 ..so it's either one or the other :)

Love Martin Barre and his early tone, especially Locomotive Breath. Can't really take Ian Anderson though.

That's true, it kind of makes that song.

Back in the (Good Old) '70's a music-loving mate of mine reckoned he read an interview where Ian Anderson claimed to have played the lead solo on "Aqualug". He swore blind that Anderson said this and we argued about it for years!!

What do you think - possible??

"Aqualung's" overrated IMO. It's not a bad album but there's some really self-indulgent twaddle on there once you get past side one.

Why is it you can't take Anderson, Snag? I know he has some slightly irritating mannerisms and can be self-indulgent but I think he makes up for that in many other ways.

I've always liked the way he detaches a word sometimes, as in 'Wond'ring Aloud': "Then she comes, spilling crumbs on the bed, and I shake my.....head(yeah).

He does that a bit in 'Lifes a Long song' too. Clever stuff. The guys a genius. What a band.

Just because I don't like him, doesn't mean he's not good, just not my cup of tea. I had Thick As A Brick, Aqualung, and Songs From The Wood and wore them out. Found myself wanting to skip a lot of he vocals. Played Locomotive Breath in several bands. Did not know Ian played rhythm, although the little overdub is the genius part of that riff I think. I like his guitar playing if that's the case.
