Anybody happen to know where someone might be able to get their hands on a few knobs for the infamous Marshall JMP tube amps of the 1970s? We are talking about the set screw type not push on. It looks like the currently available new Marshall replacement set screw knobs are somewhat different, they are a little larger in diameter and the set screw is not slotted but instead would require a hex/allen key to install.

If you wind up going with brown and gold, I found that Hoffmanamps.com is the fastest and easiest to deal with. (They are hex-screw type, however.) The LARGEST assortment of amp knobs I've seen is at vibroworld. I dunno what your knobs look like, but they have black ones with silver centers.

My '71 JMP50 has brown knobs with a silver 1/2" cap. I think the caps were originally gold but turned to a silver color over the years. The Marshall reissue knobs are brown with a gold 5/8" cap.

First, I think the silver versus gold cap thing is deceiving. I understand with the 70s JMP knobs the cap was and still has a gold tint coating, it's just as BigDave mentioned in that with enough years of handling the gold wears off. At first I thought my 1973 100W knobs had silverish caps but no they are the normal brown body with originally gold tinted caps.

I checked those web sites listed in this thread, thanks to those who supplied the URLs to those sources. It appears they are offering the current Marshall replacement gold cap knob with hex set screw. Those are slightly larger than the originals from the 70's, I can get those locally no problem. I am lead to believe that replacements that closely match the originals are no longer made, so I guess what I am really looking out for are some NOS or maybe used/salvaged original knobs specifically with the slotted set screw.
The search will continue...
Hey RICH/Marshallhead, know of any somewhat abused original JMPs maybe with blown transformers that got salvaged for parts maybe including the knobs? =( ;) (By the way I don't think there would be any Marshall disrespect in that, it would sort of be like a soldier going down with a bad mortal head wound but the M.A.S.H. unit transplanting the liver and kidneys and heart to save the lives of a few other soldiers...;))

www.angela.com sells NOS caps. Here is the ad:
