Lost all my guitars in fire

Hi Jon, Sorry to hear of your loss, particularly for the dogs : (

I can sympathise with you as we lost all but everything in a fire in Feb last year. We managed to grab a few things in the 10 mins we had to plan our escape. I lost 3 guitars but saved 4, fortunately it happened at a time of the day when we were awake and at home.
When you lose everything having general contents insurance is little consolation for those of us who collect things like guitars because there's so much other stuff that families need to replace before guitars. Like most people we were seriously under-insured.
I hope your local community is as generous to you as ours was.
All the best for the future though...hey a fire can be cleansing sometimes(we had 30 years worth of junk as well)

Prayers and best wishes Jon. Losing a dog is like losing a part of yourself.
It will get better.

So sorry for your heartbreaking loss. As one who lost a spouse to cancer ten years ago, I can tell you time does heal, but you never forget. Bless you and your family.

Wow. Those dogs. You have my condolences. That hurts. And most people don't get it until it is their dog(s). I am glad everyone else is safe. No injuries? GOOD. If only there could have been a way to grab those guitars & get them out.

Sorry from l'il old me in England. Guitars are guitars and although expensive to replace, nothing will bring your dogs back unfortunately. Be strong.

There are extra guitars whether yours "spoke" to you, or not. But the dogs....I don't have the words. I can't imagine. I lost my 4th out of four cats 4 years ago. And the 4th 3 weeks ago after 19.5 years. The year before my wife lost her cat of 17 years. 6 months before I lost my other cat of 18 years. So in a 4 year period, I lost all four and the last 3 of them during the last 1.5 years. But those were old age, so it is understandable. ANYTHING being taken from you too soon- family, possessions, job, money, etc.- sucks. MOST things can be replaced. Family & pets can not. I heard on Sunday night that the best way to get over grieving the loss of a pet is to get another one. I am not saying you should drop everything while reading this thread to go get another dog. But don't be afraid to start looking. Let it take a month to find another (or more). A year. Two years. But have one in mind and go find it. He/she is out there looking for you, too.

I guarantee it's true. As proof- my new little one is sitting at my feet purring without me even petting her. I looked for her extensively and drove over 700 miles in under 12 hours after seeing her available online at a shelter to get her near Lima, OH, on Sunday. I had to beg the volunteers to stay open for over two additional hours to wait for me after I left the house not knowing they would stay open for me. She was THE ONE and I KNEW IT. I knew it was her by the picture and description of her from the shelter volunteers. I can't tell you how nervous I was last night at the vet waiting for the summarization of "She's healthy." In fact, my eyes are tearing up while I am typing at all of my losses and my gain, as well. It is just so emotional. While she will NEVER replace Lump, Nova, Chub, or Banshee- I can bet my life that they will NOT be able to replace her, either. I will always be sad the others are gone. But my little Massa is home now. With me.

They may have been the 3 greatest dogs ever. I say go find the 4th greatest. He/she needs you, too.

So sorry to hear. Good luck.

Cool post Dood. I'm glad she found a great home.

And best of luck Jon. I hope you get over this soon and best of luck for the future.

I remember when I had to put one of my dogs down, my co-worker gave me a sympathy card (which in itself was a pleasant surprise)... and it said something to the effect that "I know that Friskers was the best dog that ever was, but somewhere out there is another puppy that will be one of the best dogs ever.

My deepest condolences to you Jon. I could not even begin to imagine losing my two dobes, especially in such a terrible way as a house fire. My dogs mean the world to me. You and your family are in my prayers and I hope all goes well for you soon.

Sorry to hear about the pets and house. Guitars can be replaced. After having to put down our old dogs over the last few years I don't want anymore. I can't deal with it. Stupid things wagging their tails and jumping up and down licking you when you get home from work. Nah, no more of that for me. Best of luck for the future....
