• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hellonguys and sorry for opening another thread but Inreally need an help. I would buy an LP special 1977 ltd edition. The matter is that I don't know the specs of this year's guitar! I mean, how can I say that it is certainly original, on wich components and parts can I base when I go see and play it, by the seller?
Thanks a lot

It should have LES PAUL 55 77 stamped on back of headstock.

Electronics will most likely look like this if they've not been molested.

Pretty strange: I have a pic in which on the headstock is written
"Limited edition" and then under " made in USA" and then the serial number...

That is OK - the limited edition decals at the time did not state the model number. Must be a double cutaway Special, likely in the 06 195,000-196,000 serial number range. The 55/77s were not a limited edition model in 1977.

Thanks but do you have other suggestions about the main specs of this guitar? I mean, ok for pots and serial, but what about the color (tobacco sunburst, pretty different from the standard tobacco sunb.), the signature "Gibson" on the head stock. Are the caracters same as those on the headstock of the other lines (standard, deluxe...) of late 70s?
Thanks a lot!
