Astounding that neither of these men seem to know why it was nigh-impossible to get American-made guitars, amps (and even discs) in England after WW II.

Less than 50 of these badges made their way onto customer-facing models on the original JTM. The story goes that Jim Marshall was in need of a logo, so visited a local funeral hardware store, earning their nickname 'coffin' badges.

So you poms were 'prosecuted' for selling 2nd hand yankee LPs, that's just ridiculous, I never knew that.
Here in NZ and in Aussie we never had such a ludicrous 'law', there were import restrictions across the whole of the Commonwealth at the time but that's as far as it went for us, you poor buggers.

Well yes we were the land of milk and honey in those post war days Marc, exporting all we had to Great Britain, didn't have the war debt like England had with America.

Aye oop X.......cheers.
It was as funny as a fight about 25 years ago, one of our local tea and coffee producer/distributors relaunched Fagg's Coffee back on to the market with a big billboard in Ponsonby(a central city bohemian suburb of Auckland) with the slogan 'The great straight coffee, not as Ponsonby as the name suggests'.
Upset the sensitivities of some in the pink soy boy community as you could well imagine. I had a conversation with the general manager of the company about this, and a good laugh.

One of my favorite Marshall amps are the JTM45s from '64, I always thought the "Clapton Knobs" looked great on those amps and also liked
the sound of those Radiopares Transformers.
