• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Im thinking of changin all the gold parts on my guitar and substitute nickel parts. I like the color and the vibe of the guitar, all gold parts aren't like JP'sat all the tuners on his are the kidney shaped type grovers.I made the mistake of playing the guitar once early on with the original pic guard with his auto signature on it and it virtually wpied off, no I dont have industrial strenth acid on my hands and had to replace the pick guard with another one with autograph that good ole Gibson reculently replace thru my dealer. Yes I keep all the origional parts in reserve> Any way replace or not to??

if I were you I would replace all the gold parts with nickel parts.. replace the grovers with chrome grovers, replace the pickups (the gold pole pieces arent gonna look right) with a set of classic 57s or burstbuckers. problems solved!!!

Do Classic 57's or Burstbuckers have 4-wire leads? If not, you'll lose all those push-pull tone and coil-split options. To make the pickup screws match with the new nickel hardware, couldn't you just get a dozen nickel (or even chrome) screws from an aftermarket supplier like Allparts or Seymour Duncan and swap them with the gold screws that are currently in the pickups?

OR you can take all the gold parts off and rub them with some stuff called "Never-Dull" It will take the gold off in a matter of minutes. Under the gold plate is nickel.

I've had 3 Jimmy Pages and thought the gold hardware looked very nice. Sort of dresses it up while not making it look too much like a custom.

This model was spec'd with the gold hardware, so I would leave it on. I think it looks pretty nice with the gold. If you want Grovers with kidney tuners you can buy them in gold (the first several hundred or so Jimmy Page models made had the kidney tuners vs. the tulip tuners on those made thereafter). :)
