I went to the NAMM show today to have Sir Jim Marshall sign the backpanels to my 65' 2-12 18watt combo and my 66 jtm-45 Bluesbreaker combo. Which he so graciously did. Funny, the first thing he says to me after I showed him pics of my amps was,"do you have any idea what those amps are worth today?" I said, "yes sir I do." I then asked him what brand transformers he used in the original 18 watt combos, and he said the first ones were RS (Radio Spares) type and then changing to Drake. I asked him if Marshall ever used the same brand transformer used in Watkins amps or WEM amps....And his very stern one word answer was.......NEVER!

Hope this clears up some "confusion" as to what's correct when it comes to tranny sets used in REAL 18watt combos.

I actually had Jim sign the inside of the back panels. On mine it has the shielding foil....His sharpie worked fine. I would bring your own marker if you want it on the tolex..

Mr. Marshall is a very cool and friendly guy.

The first time I met him was on the Marshall 40th Anniversary tour.
I had him sign the back panel of my JCM2000 DSL Combo, I brought a gold felt pen.

I met him again at the ModeFour road show.

Thanks guys I owe it all to you for the reminder. I tell myself avery year I'll bring some panels next year and never do.

Here are the results. I picked up a silver metallic Sharpie on the way there.

Great picks.

I saw him in Frankfurt about 2 years ago and he signed me a poster of Hendrix and a couple of 8x10 pictures of himself. Then I got this:

more Marshall sig

several years ago, I grabbed a '68 slant basketweave cab (unloaded) out of Daddy's Junky Music for $100; opened her up, and Jim's signature in pencil was inside the cab.
