Is this a rare R7?

I was in my local guitar store and I saw this guy hanging on the wall. The urge to not walk out with it was strong haha.

I have never seen an all gold r7 with a bigsby before. Does anyone have any information on this for me?

There are no “rare” reissue Gibson Les Pauls.
There are “custom shop”, “special order”, “limited edition”, “unusual configuration”, and even “artist proof/prototype”, but there aren’t really any “rare” reissues.

However, there are some very, very cool ones. This all gold ‘57 with a Bigsby that you’ve linked is, in every way possible, one such reissue.

My urge to actually “walk out with it” (after paying for it!) would have been very strong.

…and now let the LPF post about how there are rare reissues….

(There may be cases made for 1993-1996 R# Les Pauls, especially those painted by Tom Murphy - and the 2003 Brazilian board run, but even then, they’re all just “variations on a theme”.
It matters not. Reissue Les Pauls are great!)

‘57 all good with a Bigsby? What are you thinking? Go back and get it!

I appreciate your response. I definitely learned something new.

I'm going to go back in today or tomorrow and play it some more.

"rare" as in you rarely see them?...yeah...rare as in currently or in the future more valuable? I'd say no.......either way, if Gibson Custom thought they would sell, they'd make more.
This is a one-off/M2M. The players who would want an all gold R7, then on top of that with a Bigsby, would be a very small sample group.
However, I think an all-gold R2/R4/R6 would be cool. Not sure about the Bigs, though

I agree. No rare reissues. And the 93-96 painted by Tom Murphy is subjective as I hold no more value in them than a regular custom reissue. His painting isn’t that much greater to say they look better. But I don’t consider anything he’s done as highly collectible so…

I have a burst R7. Came from Wildwood, not advertised as any special edition. 2010. Might be rare.

2005 Neil young! Lol

But I agree any reissue is just a reissue and only cool to those who think so!
But this is very cool!

And a Bigsby on a les Paul is always cool! A les Paul without a Bigsby is always cool! A les Paul is always cool!
