• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Has gibson ever used a dull finish on historic les pauls(other than maybe an aged one)?
And in your opinion how does the finish on the 01's compare to previous years?thanks

My 01s are finished as good as my 99s and Y2ks, if ANYTHING, the necks aren't fading on my 01s as fast as they did on my 99s and Y2Ks. I played my 01 58 for at least a month with no change, but my others fade by the day. Weird.

finish fade

my y2k r9s red is turning darker and more brown recently on the top and it has the neck wear too-ive gigged alot recently and im in agreement with RICH-the guitar changes by the day-its a cool thing to me because it looks nice all dull and grimy-its very pleasing change to my eye-even the hardware is dulling

The back of my R9 neck is fading to brown a bit -- and I noticed some red on the bottom of my guitar stand.

My teaburst Y2k R9 has lost a lot of red even on the top. It is starting to look brown everywhere.
