• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I'd say there would be as much interest here for those guitars as there is in the States... most of which wouldn't really appeal to the wealthy old school collectors.

If you can find early and late 60's Strat's, 50's or late 60's LP goldtops, you'll have no trouble selling them for high dollars.

The mods that Larry does are quite unique

He modifies the rhythm pickup by rewiring one of the magnets. I would assume that he uses the standard pickup but he replaces things such as pots/caps etc

Here is a list of the mods

1) Neck pickup’s magnet “flipped”
2) Neck pickup rotated in cavity, ala Peter Green’s ‘Burst
3) Aged Nickel pickup covers installed
4) Aged humbucker adjusting screws
5) Aged humbucker ring mounting screws, correct ‘50s style small heads
6) Full height humbucker rings
7) Allparts pickguard (matches humbucker rings better than stock pickguard) with aged bracket and screws – uninstalled, but holes drilled, ala PG’s ‘Burst
8) ‘50s style truss rod cover
9) Foil top knobs for bridge pickup controls, ala PG’s ‘Burst, with aged pointer washers under all knobs (why did Gibson stop using these pointers?!?)
10) Cheap, thin wire from toggle switch to jack and pots replaced with vintage style braided wire
11) Stock pots replaced with 500K CTS Audio Taper pots (short shaft on ’07 models; long shaft on ’05 models). NOTE: ’05 guitars have a thicker top than the ‘07s, which requires use of the original pot mounting plate on some, with the center jack lug removed.
12) Correct vintage spec Sprague Orange Drop 715P (the good ones!) .022uf 400v capacitors
13) Amber toggle switch tip (uninstalled, because PG's guitar has a white one)
14) Aged Nickel ABR-1 style bridge (intonation properly set upon completion)
15) Aged, lightweight aluminum tailpiece with Faber Kit locking studs (great increase in sustain and pick attack)
16) Highly polished top and back to remove dull, stock look. My process works great!
17) Complimentary set of strings in the case pocket (see my other auctions for strings I'm selling)
18) Easily over $500 retail worth of parts and labor
