• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Mat- i am trying to get info from Customer service on a R9 I bought- case # 00282731. I haven’t heard a word back. Can you help?
I am in product development, and I want to make sure the topics here involve product development while being sure to stay in my lane and out of others. That said, I recommend you circle back with whoever you were working with for an update! Good luck.

Oh sorry. I have no recourse here and this is not a big ask. Keeping a thread on track would be fine if this was the Gibson website but you came here Mat. I need some help. Multiple pings and no answer.

I get that- and I wouldn’t have asked if I hadn’t used the correct channel three time w no answer. I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t need help.
I don’t know anybody else at Gibson and Mat is here.
If it was me I would try to help a guy.

That makes sense. No response from the so-called right channels.... that's unacceptable.

Seem like Gibson isn't a good place to be making waves. I'm sure Mat is thinking the same thing.

Some outfits are very strict about who does what even VP’s.
I bought the guitar from CME- I am going to ask them to ask.

They do look amazing!

Hey Mat, when will we see other models with custom colors? I would immediately buy a cardinal red SG special.

The new Beato DC looks nice too, any chance we'll see OG collection LP DC Specials anytime soon?

@matkoehler Thanks for all your awesomeness on here! I just got my first Custom Shop (Les Paul Custom 57 VOS, weighing only 8.6lbs!)

I’m curious, what’s your (personally) favorite guitar straps - Could you please suggest a couple? Much appreciated!

For what it's worth CME is a very fine shop that treated me right .
This problem is between Corpse and CME. Looks like CME is having difficulty getting Corpse's guitar from Gibson and not communicating that to CME. In this case, CME isn't looking too good.

Actually I tried to send it privately and it posted publically. It was sent as a conversation PM and showed up here. The guitar came from CME as a used item. Trying to get verification from Gibson Customer Service- with zero luck.

Adding a small rant here about Murphy Lab lacquer checking based upon a thread I saw on the other forum (I am not a member). Yes in late 2020/early 2021 there was a batch of Murphy Lab Les Pauls with aniline dye backs where the cherry filler batch we received was faulty. It was not adhering properly and causing extreme checking and flaking on the back, sides and neck -- this is 'bad batch' issue you've likely heard about. We corrected it immediately, but since that time, it seems there is just a lot of hesitation about what constitutes the "ideal" Murphy Lab finish behavior, and rightly so...I get it.

So let me be clear -- as the ML card insert says, Murphy Lab lacquer is designed to behave like it does on 50s instruments. It will continue to check and age, and this process is expedited based on environmental conditions. If you buy an Ultra Light aged Murphy Lab guitar, please treat it like you would an original '59 burst in that condition. If you leave it in your trunk on a very hot or very cold day, leave it in the sun for an extended period, etc -- the finish will continue to check in unpredictable ways. But that kind of checking is in no way related to the filler issue a couple years ago. It's to be expected. OK rant over!
Hi Mat,when you say it will continue to check and age…

Will any degree of chipping or flaking be expected with newer runs? I plan to gig mine regularly and I play fairly hard. some wearing down of the edges over time I’d expect, but not chips coming off. I just ordered one and want to know what I’m in for!
