Ummm... so where does one find 'old' grovers for sale? Is there a stash of New-Old-Stock somewhere? TIA.

FWI, I installed the new Roto Grip locking Grovers on my 2000 LP Custom last night and they are a direct replacement for the import stock ones. Killer tuners. I think they added some sustain. They were about $70 from Stew Mac.

Old Grovers (USA Made) used a higher quality metal. You can actually hear a "ting" when tapping them with a screwdriver. New ones "clack." I've had new ones and old ones on the same guitar (avatar) and the difference in tone was dramatic. The old ones sounded more lively.
How much of a difference did the vintage (usa made) grover's actually make? Would you say it's enough of an improvement to buy a vintage set, Even if you have a set of milk bottle rotomatics? (idk where they were made, but i bought them new a year or so ago)

What years are the usa made rotomatics that look like Milk bottles?

They’re currently being made. Retrospec has them in new or light relic.

he’s asking about the milks made in USA ..are the Retrospecs made in USA ?
I’ve just bought a set of the milk bottle style in nickel from stewmac. Rotomatic 102v series. £49+£15 delivery to the uk. They seem to have plenty in stock and they look like the old ones to me. (I’m sure there are differences which will be pointed out but hey ho). They haven’t arrived yet but I’ll let you know if they’re any good.
