Gibson's inferior QC strikes again

70s Mirror V. Brand new, factory sealed box. You know the one... the model they jacked up the price by $500 in only 3 years. Back it went for a full refund. Some poor sucker might actually buy it and keep it.

Nice work on the binding. Continuous scrape marks all the way from the 2nd fret to the 17th fret. Over one hundred years to figure out how to QC a guitar and they still cannot do it. Hey @matkoehler - there is a blind, deaf, mute kid somewhere that needs a job. Surely he could do better work than your Quality No-Control employees. You have the audacity to charge the prices you do then pump out these steamy dog piles?

I did. I've been a homeowner for almost 13 years. And in another 13 years Gibson still won't know how to QC a musical instrument!

But they'll have another 350 over-produced marketing videos under their belt for sure. God forbid they put a fraction of that budget towards paying skilled employees.

roll them binding edges and shoot some amber tint ..but yeah, that is a bit overboard having nosedives to the fret

You misunderstand me.
You're absolutely correct to return that guitar because the binding/fretwork isn't up to snuff!
A refund was issued and that makes perfect sense.

Your reaction to all of it however, is a bit over-the-top.
For Gibson to take it back for a refund and still be complaining about it is a bit much.
To condemn 100 years of this forum's favorite guitar builder with a few photos of one guitar and then to poke fun at the Gibson employees is a bit much.
To call other Gibson buyers "suckers" is a bit much.

Collect yourself and play your Gibsons loudly!

Understood. Thing is- things just like this have happened many times in just my case alone, let alone others. I've been playing for decades. I've had to send back almost as many Gibsons as I've kept going back to the Henry era. The fact that *preventable*, *avoidable* stuff likes this continues to happen is absurd to me, which is why I appear so dramatic. Particularly with this misconception that the current ownership has things straightened out. Clearly they do not. I'd again like to point out that they jacked the price by $500 in just 3 years, then let someone who hasn't completed Binding Course 101 work on the instrument. That, my man, is a bit much.

I'm sorry you've had a run of bad luck with them.

I've bought numerous Gibsons both new and used from Production models to Custom Shop models, and maybe I'm just lucky but I have never run into this issue on any of them.

And not a single one was anything other than excellent in quality of workmanship or tone.

Are you unable to inspect guitars personally before you buy them?
