Gibson SmartWood Studio missing Les Paul logo on headstock

I recently purchased a 2002 Gibson Studio SmartWood. It’s got the leaf on the headstock. The serial dates it to the 340th day of 2002. What’s got me perturbed is that the headstock doesn’t have the Les Paul logo on it. I’ve seen that the SmartWood Exotics have no Les Paul logo on the head stock and have a truss rod cover that says “smart wood”, they also have a comfort carve and are quite a bit thinner than the SmartWood Guitar I purchased. My guitar has no comfort carve, is the thickness of a studio, has the MOP Gibson logo and has the green leaf truss rod cover but does not say “Les Paul”.
Could it have come without the “Les Paul” logo on the headstock from the factory or do you think someone removed it?
