I hate push connectors and ribbon cable in guitar amps. That stuff is a problem waiting to happen.
The build quality is the issue. Quite a few people who have decades of experience designing, servicing, and building tube amps have pointed out the failures waiting to happen with these things. For this price point that's a big no.Hey TM1, thumbs up on late 50’s Gibson amps. I have a 59 GA-40 that is spectacular. I wish I had a GA-20.
That said, I know nothing about servicing, or amp design, or Mesa, etc. Never played through any Mesa Boogie that I thought sounded good. Figured it was me.
But I know is what shit sounds like. These amps sound really good in person. If you’re listening to that video on your phone, or crappy earbuds, give me a break. It’s all digital audio. Tried them both out at Sweetwater and I gotta tell ya, they could work for me. They are responsive, surprisingly touch sensitive, and really quite nice. Didn’t buy either, got plenty of stuff that works for me, but if I needed an amp, I would seriously consider these. Sometimes we get caught up in irrelevant underwear. Try one out in person before you trash them.
