Hi!

I was just wondering: Is the Gibson Firebird I made in the cutom shop/historic...?

I've been looking for some info on the Firebird V and the Firebird I
But couldn't really find them, so here we go:
What is it that the V can offer more than the I can't (tonality etc.)?
Personally I think the V is better looking than the I but what would YOU prefer and why? I mean, if the one PU on the Firebird I sounds great, why then have a 2. PU?
I ask because a store offered me to buy a new Firebird I with a small ding on the back and the price is discounted so that it actually is cheaper than a new Firebird V....But I would really like to know if I'll regret it by missing that one PU...Cause then in the long run it would be cheaper to spend a little more money and get the Firebird V! Bit if the one PU sounds great, then I could use it and just boost during solos, or is it just suitable for rythm??
Would would you have done...Any comments??

ANY INFO WILL BE APPRECIATED!

Best regards
Torben

Same question gets put to LP Jr. lovers...one pup or two?

Witha one pup model you pretty much get one tone, save for using the tone control.

I had a '63 FB I years ago, great guitar. I have a '72 Medallion FB V that kicks my ass everytime I pick it up.

The neck pup gives one of the greatest blues neck pup tones ever (to my ears). Both pups together is a nice tone, but it's the ability to get a sweet "hollow" neck tone and then switching mid-lead to a f***ing searing bridge pup that seals it for me.

Best thing to do? Take 15 minutes with each, same amp and let your ears tell you which one is right for what you're going to be playing.

THANKS!

Thank you for your fast reply!
It's just so hard because I live in Denmark, and the market ain't that big, so it's almost impossible for me to find a store that houses both the I and the V....The look of the V is better (my opinion) but i'ts not the look but the tone it comes down to, right?! Is the bridge PU on the I bluesy? I play Blues-rock-Lenny Kravitz, the black crowes, kenny wayne, SRV etc. I actually saw that Craig Ross (lenny Kravitz) uses a Firebird V, but if the I is good sounding it would be a great deal for me too, since he has discounted the price so much!
How does the wraparound on the I affect the sound and is the I made in the historic/custom shop and what about the V's are they "regular" or CS guitars?

Thanks again!

Hi Steven!

Hi!

I posted it and I'm still so sad!
The seller called me later that day and told me he had just sold it to some other guy...Even though he told ME that I could come and pick it up saturday....It was just such a big slap in my face!!!!
Well, i called several stores, but they couldn't offer me a 59' or 58' RI that I could afford, so I decided to try something else. I called different stores and this one store had a Gibson firebird I, so, I think I'llgive it a try.....Any oppinions what I should do try out while I'm there???

Best Regards
Torben

I've got a couple of Historic Birds, and like the Firebird 1 the best, may have something to do with it's simplicity, but it has tone that the other models don't.
That's not to say the other models are less. If you like Slide the 1
can't be beat.
