Ok I just downloaded the mp3's and put them onto my ipod and listened through my UE superfi's rather than listening through crappy headphones on a laptop and now I am even more confused than EVER as they all sounded totally different than before. :hmm :hmm :hmm :hmm :hmm

I can tell you that EE and FF both sounded great. FF seemed to have a bit more of a natural reverb thing going on.

Anyway, I don't give a munkies which one's are the bloody PAF's :wah I just want to know if I should buy Dr.V's (or whatever) as there no way I can afford PAFs any time in the next million years.

So I hope EE and FF are replica's!! :dude: :rofl

Wow. Some panties seem to be getting wadded up. WTF? I think this is fun. Of course I have never played a genuine set of PAFs or the wood they came in and likely never will and I'm only an expert at enjoying myself...

I have a 70's modified dog Deluxe with Fralins and B still sounds like that. I also have an 81/82 Custom w/Shaws (I've been told) and this time F sounds like that a bit.

E has got some nut - so I've voted E. PAF's have got nut right?

Hi so I voted, but I would also like to know the ID of the PAFs on the first set as well. So complete results on both sets would be great, and we deserve it! I agree, it was fun at first, but now it is not worth the energy to go through twice. "What do I have to pay to get out of going through all these things twice?"

I think it's going to be very interesting to see the consistency between the first posting and the second posting.. I picked C and D the first time around, and EE and FF the second time around.. Not neccessarily as *the* PAF, but the ones with the best tone to me.. It will be interesting to see if my choices followed each other.. :hmm

Of course if they don't, I'm sending roadrunner the bill for the TWO to FOUR sets of pickups I'm gonna have to buy.. :2cool :rofl (Actually double the 2 to 4, as I have two humbucker guitars.. LOL ) :ganz

You do realize if people keep beating on the other people that do these polls, tests and comparisions, folks are going to be a LOT more hestitant to post such things..

Gotta be AA! Listen to the second half especially, great harmonics in the sustain, sounds just like my favorite recordings. Great articulation too. If those aren't PAFs I want to know where I can buy them.

Roadrunner, thanks for doing this.......it's fun and it's also a healthy exercise for all of us. Kind of reminds me of ear training from music theory class where they made us blind listen to a pianist play single notes, intervals, chords and then ID them. That was more work......less fun, but still good.

Good point Tex, I know zip/nada/nothing about marketing... and luckily, I'm not selling anything! They didn't teach that at some the dives I hung in.

Hi guys. Sorry I missed the fun, only I have been in Mongolia all week and couldn't find a place to plug in the old lap top. Hell! If only I had been here I could have let you all know on the spot first time round. Yes..Of course it was C. Can't you tell by the midrange oscillations of unwaxed 40 year old wire and the effects the magnets are having on the molecules. And yes! ..I am now starting to hear the mids coming through nicely and complimenting the highs, which although not brittle, cut through the mix quite distinctively like a well matured Chardonnay, therefore separating the -2 db cut I can hear coming from the bass register.

Piece off cake old man.. Damn shame I missed the show chaps.
