• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Looks awesome Nico, great job. As mentioned earlier, don't relic this one, it looks too good. Love that grain on the back and the front for that matter.

Thanks dude, but I'm very tempted to relic it, its just that its a bit of a contradiction aiming for an old guitar look and having a spotless finish.

But this time i have more experience and will not overdo the relic. :salude

Here is the back of the headstock with the serial applied by hand and first hand of varnish.

Where did the original Made In USA serial number go? Did you sand it off?

Yes, totally sanded of, it just did not go well with the overall look of the guitar, a Burst look that is.

This is where I start scratching my head. Why go to the trouble of re-finishing it to such a high degree, just to make it look abused again?? Is anyone here versed in mental disorders?? :hee There has got to be a name for this kind of madness.

The answer is very simple Coco, because i can re do it again when ever i feel like i don't like it any more.

The point is that i'm learning how to do this kind of things and i'm having lots of fun at doing it.

That looks incredible Nico
reminds me of a line from an old Little Feat song
Time Loves a Hero...
"As a coward I admire his courageous ways".
I definately would not have the balls to do that.
It looked cool before, but that really looks bitchin' now,
I am suprised at how much grain the factory finish hides, the back came alive also.
I am very impressed given the method and resourses, and a first attempt.:2cool

Don't relic it right away.
It may relic naturally, give it a year or two.
The gloss will wear away with playing.:salude
