• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Explorer Owners, Does Yours Lean Forward with the Strap?

The Explorer seems to lean forward on the strap, but I hate to move the strap button. Might put strap locks on for safety's sake. That won't solve the problem.

How have you handled it?

I'm kind of hesitant to put the strap over the fin a la Allen Collins.

make it 'yours' and don't be concerned with what others do

I have moved the strap pegs on all of my 'Modernistics' type models; Flying V, Futura, Explorer, etc.

I have also used the strap wrapped over the front/top of the guitar

don't fret over such small stuff ........

make it your own; you bought it (y)

That is pretty much the very same location where I place the strap pegs on my Explorers and my Futura (y)
It makes the most sense to me. It’s ok when you’re playing something ultra light like a Hofner bass, but anything heavier than that needs that button moved, at least for me.

I prefer the heel location and a little tilt doesn’t bother me as I play with my forearm firmly planted on the geetar.

I think all my explorers and birds have two strap buttons. I consider it a feature.
