I decided to get an ES-135 and settled on this particular model. I knew it was going to get a refin and I've never had a graphic guitar. I wanted a Western x Dios de los Muertos X Robert Rodriguez-Quentin Tarantino-ish theme without looking like a dated 80s shredder axe or appearing too goth.
I send the guitar to Sara Ray for the graphics; she is awesome to work with. The finished guitar was sent it to Eric's Guitar Shop in LA and he did a ridiculously good setup and installed new hardware and electronics. The pups are the stock Gibsons (not labelled but I assume Classic 57) with black covers; they are not active pups. We couldn't immediately find black metal covers to allow the pole piece to show through.
The guitar plays like the cliched buttah. The size is very comfortable for me. Very cool tone: a bit honkey with a fullness similar to an ES 356 or ES335 X Les Paul. I'm very happy with it.
