• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

You would think a guitar in that condition woud have some provenance? No under the hood pictures, hard to tell? Also selling a '54 Strat in same condition?

I would be very reluctant to purchase something that surfaced in a sea of fog & subjection the guitar looks very nice , the case looks very worn this would give me cold feet .

Lot #15GIBSON | 1959 GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD SUNBURST GUITAR

Very cool original example, but flames are either very subtle, or the photographing person really need education..
Serial # 9 0335.
The pictures on ‘Burst Serial show 9 0331, 9 0336, and 9 0337 - none of which are super flamey examples. 9 0337 is quite plain.

But that doesn’t really mean anything.
I’m just having fun being an armchair quarterback!

Kind of tend to agree.. looking at my own brown case compared to the wear on the guitar.. much more even patina "guitar vs. case -wise".
I'm in no doubt that this burst is indeed the real thing, but what you can't tell from pics (at least I can't) -is if the guitar has had clear overspray at some point. Could be, when comparing wear, guitar vs. case.
It need an in-hand inspection before handing over this kind of dough IMO.

Actually, it's # 9 0365. But hard to see unless magnified heavily.
The tuners are not original. And no mention about it in the auction..

I do see a sign that this fine burst has not had clear overspray.
The dent I circled would be as shiny as the rest of the edge in this pic, if the guitar had a clear overspray -unless the dent was made after an overspray.
But speculation only, It sure needs an in-hand inspection.

9 0365.
A pity they didn't take the trouble to photograph it properly. I bet it has more flame than can be seen in these pics.
Yeah, and we don't have it on burstserial.com

There was a '60 at Arlington on the Killer Vintage stand and that sold, didn't get the chance to get a pic of it unfortunately, pretty much a plain top.
