My USA 50’s standard gets much larger over all as you go up the neck. Compared; my R8 feels smaller, less shoulder depth and not as wide going up. Both are 2021.

Hey, thanks for that info, very useful to me! I have a few USA standard 50s (two 2021 and one 2022) and I am very comfortable with that size. With that said, a bit slimmer is not an issue for me either. But it seems as though i'd be comfortable with a 58 or a 59. The only neck I have trouble with is my 1990 LP classic 60s, that thing has a crazy thin neck. I feel this emptiness in my hand/palm when i'm playing and doing bends. Even the modern 60s standard is okay for me, but i prefer the 50s. I still lean toward the 59 reissues because I do prefer some type of flame type, even if it;s more subtle. Thanks!

Between my Norlin necks (slim taper) and the 50’s my fretting had is doing better. Due to not playing with the same “grip?” all the time. Variety. My R8 is a plain top lemon with little burst, the R9’s I was drawn to had incredible flame tops. But, didn’t play as well, or have the sound to my ears. I will have a R9 in the future, someday.
Good luck?

Cool, I do actually like plain tops a lot as well, but if I’m gonna drop CS level money I think I’d rather get a flamed top first. I really like dirty lemon or golden Poppy finishes with wide and wavy flames. I had acquired so many standards that I came to the realization I should sell a couple of them and add a CS to the collection. I sold my slash November burst on reverb recently and got a CS ultra light aged 59 but ended up returning it. Unfortunately I don’t live near any shops that have CS LPs so I have to buy them without playing them which kind of sucks. Hopefully I can get one at wildwood or CME, as they seem to carry quality stuff and have good reputations.

Mark’s Guitar Loft is a forum sponsor, so I’ll mention them. If you haven’t looked already. No connection, just a recommendation.

Cool, thanks for the heads up! I think maybe I saw their site some years back before I was considering CSs. Looks like they carry some excellent LPs! That golden poppy that sold really speaks to me ha. That curly flame. I do like the dirty lemon they have but I want a tad bit more flame. I’m super picky this since I’ll be dropping this kind of money ! But thanks again for the heads up!

There was a golden poppy 58 on Wildwood last year that had a great looking top with mineral streaks and unusual grain. I hesitated to buy it because the silkscreen LP signature was so faded that you could barely read it. I was gonna call them and ask for a price break but it sold before I could call.
