My dad's buddy was throwing out two non-working 1482s from the 60s (been in his basement for 30+ years). Both just need a recto tube. One is complete in the cab and the other is out of the cab.

I took the one that's just chassis/guts and fitted a SS recto. :bug Great tone through an Eminence Legend.

It's pretty amazing the amount of sweet distortion one of these things can kick out. Seriously cool for a 30 year old "budget" amp.

Here's a video of it I made this weekend. Sorry for the crappy YouTube sound.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eiar0RyAKK4

Oh man...I love me some 1482's. Thats a great score.
I owned one a while back, but their output was a little low for me.

I just listened to your clip though...and it sounds absolutely nothing like the one I had. Mine had a very Fender overdriven sound to it. Maybe it's just the video...thanks for sharing.

Killer little amps those Dano/Silvertones. I use a 1x12" 1432 for harp (and guitar in the studio) and have a near mint 1x15" '55 model 1335, for guitar, that has so much tone it's insane.

Dano also made a very cool looking little amp, in the late '50's, called a "Special Series D Model 68"... 1x12", two 6V6... great little studio amp. Those were covered in white "faux" tolex and had gold grill cloth, very classy little rig.
