I know, it was a dark period for sure. I remember going to see EC, and a couple of other bands at that time, I think Warren Gaines was in one I saw, I think with Gregg Allman??... and everyone was playing thru those Soldano things. Sounded like bacon frying. Ugh.
Warren still sounds like that to me, or always did. Hard for me to get into The Brothers with him in the band playing long solos..:dang

I hear you. I've never been able to get next a lot of modern player's tones. It's kind of a short circuit in my brain though, or a prejudice... the minute I see a pedal board in front of a guitar player, they're done... for me anyway. Same with high gain amps... and technique. I like to hear guitar players that sound like they're playing with boxing gloves on, or locked in mortal combat with their guitars, like Little Milton's early '50's stuff recorded at Sun, in Memphis.
