• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I got two 50 watt Metal Panel Plexi's PTP. I use only Mullard in the Power Section. Xf2's w/double getters. I like them within at the most 4 to 5 mA apart. I use to like them really close but that's what makes old amps sound good is the different tolerances. If you have a couple pairs I'll take them for the right price. I do not care about labels just the blackburn codes. Nobody see's the labels anyway unless you play the amp backwards. And I do leave the back off to keep'em cooler. I have a TV-7 tester that was calibrated by one of the best so 50gm or so off is no big deal. Shoot me a eamail and I'll get you started on that lester you're looking for. Single getter's will do but someone was quoting top price's there. That may be for NOS in the Box matching Mullard labels and 2mA apart. Like I said box's and labels do not make the tone. It's the tubes, bias, amp and fingers to name a few NICE SCORE!!!!:applaude

No more double getters. All the xf2 I have are single halo, welded plate and of course I have the boxes.

Yes I hate "Tests NOS" you know? How can something "test" Unused?....I disagree with you that ALL tubes that one finds that are labeled NOS are coming out of something. Mine have been in my inventory over 10 yrs. When I got them, they were mostly flushed out of audiophile collections/inventories and radio and stereo repair inventories. Most of the other true NOS tubes that I received came from Europe and especially from Britain and 95% of my Mullard tubes came from a friend of mine that worked for Mullard and then for a company that provide tubes for industry and had massive inventories of NOS tubes.

Other than testing.....There is a look about NOS (Unused) as opposed to used, but test new tubes. I pride myself on seeing and knowing the difference.

Ok, agree to disagree.

My old bass player's grandfather was a retired tv repairman, and although I missed out on his "ultimate set of tools", I was able to grab what was left of his tube stash. This was back in the mid 90's. Guess what? His tube collection had been picked over at least twice before I got to it and other than rectifier tubes, a few 6L6's and 6V6's (not much demand for the 6V6 back then) the best had been taken. This was pre-eBay/pre-pawn shop reality shows. Basically what I'm trying to say is that golden stash of tubes we as guitarists or audiophiles crave are an endangered species with few sightings. On top of that we're competing with garbage pickers who will see dollar signs anytime they stumble upon anything that looks like a light bulb.

I've never sold any real Mullard EL34 that tests even at the lower end of good with maybe half the flashing left for less than $30 each and for these i use NOS as a reference for test numbers and tone/response.

The ones i am referring to for around $30 each go to folks who want to record with real Mullards because they will still last 100's of hours.

Imo, any real Mullard EL34 pair that is reasonably close in mutual conductance & current draw for under $100 is very rare these days unless they are at really close to the lower end of test results.

I sold off all of my more worn $30 Mullard EL34's years ago and i explained up front that only a few 100 hours could be expected from them (maybe more like 300 hours if you bias conservatively)....none were returned either!
