• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Just got one, and it's great but the pots don't work gradually. They do little until reaching 2 and than the rest. Is that normal for those? Or somethings wrong?

That is a nice Firebird, with the gold hardware, reflector knobs, and the red, white, and blue Firebird on the pick guard. But the pots may be normal to be silent below 2. Are they scratchy? I would guess some oxidation is in there if they haven't been excersized in a while. Try working them back and forth a bit and they might open up

Post pictures. Now!

Since you are asking about pots; post pictures with them on 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 13 so we can
look at the
total tonal kaleidoscope of sound©™℞℉.
Then we will release the "
experts who will answer ®℔℥" answer.

Thanks, but the pots just seem shot...I already tried to clean them, but no effect. I also believe the wiring is not original as it looks kinda messy with two differend caps. It's really a nice one but heavily modded...refinished in red with an added tnird pickup in the middle. I heard it was owned by Paul Day who is a big Roxy Music fan and wanted to make it look like Manzareks FB VII.
Anyway I got a good deal on ot and makes a nice companion to my 64 FB III

Oh a modded circuit. Well full vol from 10-2 then off is not right. Time to trace what's going on in that mod.

No the circuit is as it should be. The middle pickup could have been switched on and off with the mini toggle, but it's disconnected. But I might change the pots and caps
