I have....

They are awesome in a high gain setting. Lots of boomph. The neck pickup sings and the bridge pickup has lots of upper harmonic detail without being strident. I especially like the bridge pickup in high gain mode with the tone control rolled off.

The authentic is my favourite Les Paul that Gibson has built, in life. In fact I have another one arriving tomorrow.

I love the three Authentics that I've had my hands on. Still want a '59 RI first but man, the Authentics really sing at high volume.

The one I got from GW is the shit for me. Love the sound and feel. Really cool paint job. I ordered a set of burstbuckers for another LP --- they sound much better than whats in it, while both guitars are real close unplugged. We'll see.

Authentics NON, 57 GoldTops OUI!

What with all the discussion on the authentics, I have tried to take each one on it's own merits.About 6 so far.

Recently, I was determined to find at least one that I would like enough to buy, THEN, I A/B'ed the authentics with the 2001 historic 57'GoldTop.

After three hours, & the patience of the dealer(who I have bought several historics from for over a decade), I bought a 57'GoldTop.
Lightweight, magnificent tone, dark fingerboard. Priced...well Wow!

As far as the authentics, maybe it's me, but I am still waiting for one of these that bears up to the praises of it's fans.
