THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
I have an older (not vintage) Les Paul Custom. I paid $1800 for it, and it came with Throwback pickups. I didn't plug the guitar in at the store because there was some guy playing for a long time, and it felt good.
I was very disappointed by how it sounded when I plugged it in. I pulled the pickups out and sold them on Reverb, then I put Antiquities, and I love them. The guitar is smooth, well-balanced, and clear-sounding.
The guitar plays great (headstock repair) and looks cool. It went from one that I didn't use because it didn't sound good to being one I use all the time and sounds great.
