• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Hello and sorry if I overlooked the answers somewhere else here; Anyone here have one and remember what they go for new?

And subjectively speaking, what do you think they are worth used in relatively "good" condition (i.e. no evidence of neck breaks, everything working, sounding good, finish not beat up badly).

Here's the guitar in question;

In short, I really like everything about the guitar. It was one of those inadvertant, random buys. Knowing myself, I probably paid too much for it. But in the moment of purchase (and now), I just had to have it. I spent a month considering it. I feel good about the buy, just wondering how much I overpaid relative to current market.

I'm relatively ignorant about LP's in general. Any info always appreciated much. Thank you.

$4500. If you paid more than that then you should shoot yourself. Actually, I wrote a song about this. It is called "gonna put a bullet in my head on Tuesday night." Sort of an Alt-Country tune. BTW - I like the Strat-like guitar. That's cool.

Why do people ask these questions AFTER they buy a guitar?

Got this one today. The Custom was actually my first LP, back when I was a kid; 1973.

I really know very little about LP's, or Gibson in general. No particular aversion, just never experienced any moment that drove me to one. Now in my old man end days, I figure what the hell. At my age, anything can happen to my health. Not that I expect that mind you, but I take nothing for granted these days. I also am so grateful for everything life has allowed. I often feel I have better than I deserve. Don't know why.

Sorry about that as I digress.

As far as fit, finish and all that in personal terms, all I have are endless anecdotes; mine and others for any kind of comparison. Lots of hypothetical ideas distorted by my personal biases juxtaposed against everyone elses. And what I read in text and consume in video content. No substitute for hands on.

I figured why not just buy some? I figure just get a middle tier (in my mind anyway) and a custome shop version. Gotta say I was shocked how much I liked the 56 GT STD w/P90's. @9.2lbs it feels a bit heavy, but I know it wouldn't bother me. The next is a CS Version of the 56. Great guitar, but still preferring the non-CS model. Only advantage to me is the CS version is a pound lighter. Next is the R9. And today the CS Custom.

Really wish I had more live friends and aquaintances that were LP owners/enthusiasts. But since I don't it's self education. Appreciate the info and bantering. You all are a great lot.
