Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Greetings, LPMFr's! It is I, Cryptozoo, returned from the great cyber wasteland to mine wisdom of the collective vintage consciousness. I see you've changed the carpet around here, looks nice.
Anyways,
1) In 2016, who makes the best reproduction tuners / buttons for a vintage 335? I know...
These two tops are weird... the first one might be the ugliest I've seen all year.

For the man who just can't bear a Fender logo on his Tele...
I actually kinda like it.
This other limited Goldie run has me scratching the old noggin. How does a guitar that 'just left the factory' have a vivid top but a faded-out back? Must've been one of those that spent a lot of time in a store window... backwards...
Another good example of WTF from the Custom Shop:

A $4,299 weight-relieved Goldtop that's still almost 10lbs?! No comprende.
Wildwood's got one of the lightest non-chambered Historics I've ever seen:

Anyone ever come across one lighter than this?
This has probably been seen here before, but not by me. Pretty good vid of MK wailing on a vintage burst behind a solid band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-2ThFddglk
I don't know if it's a perspective illusion from the camera or the wine, but the two 339 Naturals that Wildwood has side-by-side right now look to have a significant difference in body shape:
Love the look of these Ns, by the way. I'm glad they decided to put these out.
I was waiting for G Custom to do something to honor Les, but this seems a little pricey:

Wildwood's got a bunch of new '55 R's in stock, including non-center seam bursts with a wraptail and 'bucker and a pretty cool Black Beauty. I didn't realize Gibson was doing a run of these this year. Anyone have any other info on them? It appears some have Tonepros hardware.
I'm passing through Asheville, Columbia and Charleston on the way to the beach this week and I need to get a fret level done on two of my guitars. Does anyone here know of a good luthier in any of those towns?
I've got a very stiff volume pot on one of my vintage Gibbys... works great, love the taper/sweep and it's not scratchy at all, but it's super-stiff. I have to grip it with two fingers to get it to turn, which makes riding the knob during a song a bit of a chore. Is there anything I can do to...
