Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
I can steer you to the "vintage cases" sticky post at the top of this forum- That's a "four-latch" 50's LP case, quite correct for your special. Unless you want more extensive restoration, I find thick superglue carefully applied within the cracked seams can do wonders with these to structurally...
I notice the burst pictured lying with the goldtop has the “eye” woodgrain around the controls that is apparent in closeup photos of the beano guitar... interesting
A few weeks ago, the night before the northern california vintage guitar show, I dreamed about a well-played red '64 335- I've been lusting for a good ES for a while now, from watching Simo youtubes- so I was keeping an eye out for anything like that when I went to the show the next day.
So I...
Obscure minutae, but when did the pick guards on SG(LP)'s go from five screws to six screws? I read a few articles about Clapton's fool SG, and in all of them it was stated that its year was unknown, but it must be a '64 since it had six pickguard screws. Gibson's site also says 64 was the year...
I have an old '56 deluxe that has had mongrel caps and speaker in it for decades, decided to restore it as much as possible. Put a Weber p12r clone in it, and tried these fender vintage red caps. Damn! These things sound GREAT, perfect sweet tone, I'd highly recommend them for any 50's fender...
I had a chance to stretch out with a couple of friends recently, and this video is the result. My style may be somewhat unusual from that of the average burst player, I thought some of you might find this interesting. Some good footage of my '58 (although the quality went down when the video was...
Damn! I got one of these a few weeks ago- it's far and away the most versatile, great-sounding amp I've ever owned. It has an incredible range of tones with those two preamps, and EVERY one of them sounds REALLY great. A perfect package too- loud enough to play out with, portable, nice...
I posted this in the "hollow tone" thread, as this guitar imo has that quality in spades, then I thought others might find it interesting.
It's filmed up close and personal, so you might be able to better get a feeling for how these wonderful instruments play-...
I was fortunate enough to recently acquire a basketweave cab loaded with g12m's with bass cones- WOW!
First time I've ever (knowingly) played through some of these- what a sound! Fat, three-dimensional, focussed-but-huge, and NO farting out. Finally see how Koss did that sound-
This cab's gonna...
Does anyone know if there has been any repro case candy- hang tags, "mr dealer", etc.- at least the paper stuff, that anyone has produced or is selling?
