• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Should I let go of this '55 TV Special I've had for 25 years?

To see the entire history of this stunning Les Paul portrayed in its appearance tells a story over 50 yrs in the making. Don't you want to play your part in the ongoing story ? I'm guessing that you do.

I faced this decision a couple of years ago with the 58 Special in my avatar.

I bought it over 30 years ago when it was just old, and now it's vintage.

My decision came down to the instrument. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, good structurally and cosmetically, light wear for its age, and 100% all there.

But I never liked it. It never inspired a single song or lick the entire time that I had it.

So I moved it on, at a more than healthy profit, paid down my line of credit, bought a furnace, and replaced it with a Firebird and a Mesa TA30 that I far prefer.
