• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I loved Toto. That was such a great band. Lukather is a superb guitar player in my book.

Those are Yamaha Grover knock offs on it. I have over the past two years found few missing pieces for my great friend Luke. It now has its proper tuners, Wireless ABR-1 and stop tail piece. After that its one of the best you will play. :dude:

PS those pickups are not super distortions:2zone .

Cool. They seem to have the Schaller style 'S' on the back but hey, what do I know? I'm no expert. :rofl

Richard do you want to argue over this now? I literally saw the guitar less than a year ago. I maybe only 37 but I know the difference between the word Schaller and the word YAMAHA!!!!:hee

It's had a few sets on there over the years. I'm talking 2013 not 1983.

No wonder you English make such good barristers you even argue for sport!!:dude:

Ha ha. Touché. :dude:

Just sayin' in the pics above they're obviously Schallers but I can see the Yamaha tuners in the first pic now you've mentioned it. Fair do's Joe. Good that you were able to help restore the guitar to its original condition.

I'm not gonna argue with a guy that's had it in his hands.

Am I? :)

so they are original pickups? do you know joe if that is a choice of steve to have the covers removed? for a different tone maybe? i know his tone is rather compressed, with much gain, so i thought he might have changed the pickups and kept the original pafs safe

Steve thinks it's worth half a million dollars :ganz

Probably because he knows some Japanese Toto fan who will pay $500k. I've worked with a few of the Toto guys and their peripheral project guys, and it's amazing the Toto fetish that exists in Japan.

Very nice clip! The guy he's playing with (Char) is no slouch either! Regarding the question of does he still have it, in Tony Bacon's new book "Sunburst" there's a section on Luke and his Burst and he makes is pretty clear that of all the guitars he owns he views this as his #1 and will never sell it. He talks about his children getting it.

You can hear evidence of that guitar all over Michael Jackson's album, "Thriller".

. . . and all over a lot of other pop music projects Luke worked on over the last three or four decades. :dude:

I know that back in the late 70's I had drinks with Steve and he said absolutely nothing about the tuning machines. He may not remember this, but I do.........
Now, as far as liking Toto or not, I challenge anyone to go out there and achieve the success of Steve Lukather et al. Man it drives me crazy when the minutia of a guitar becomes more important than the monster talent of the player. Practice boys and girls and live the dream. Mr Lukather did , Joe too.

Really? I'll have to dig that out and have a closer listen.

Luke is one of the most prolific session players ever for a very good reason. He's also a very funny human being, with an extremely perverted sense of humor. "This next song is for my ex-wife. It's called 'I Hate Every Bone In Your Body Except for Mine.'"

My engineering mentor was the engineer for one of his bands for many years, before retiring, so I've had plenty of Luke hangs and listens. That cat has forgotten more about music than most of us will ever know. I have mad respect for him.

Luke is thee man.....I played that guitar this past January and its all there.....and Luke was saying how JB helped him get all the parts, which in a way made me glad, so I can keep my spare parts for my next under the bed conquest!!!!
