• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

New Les Paul Standard arriving Friday! What brand or kind of guitar straps are you all using to save your backs while rocking on with your Les Paul? My skinny stap for my Strat is not going to cut it, so I need some help from my friends :)

I went with a 3 1\2" Levy's padded leather strap. It distributes the weight over a wider area and the padding makes it feel so much better.

To be specific, a Levy's MSS1. I use a PM 32 for my lighter guitars, but the Les Paul needs the carving leather to take the weight. These are a great design - the padding rolls up at the edge to protect your neck from the edge of the heavy leather. They still have enough stretch however, to save your back if you jump around.

Check out Phantom Guitars. The best strap IMO and vintage looking for sure.

$4.99 Ernie Ball nylon.

I've paid a lot more for much shittier straps. It really can't be beat.

Gretsch Brian Setzer. I snatched up a bunch of 'em when they were available. Haven't seen one in years.

A wide soft leather strap (don't know the brand) ... can't stand padded ones

I have a custom made one. Since I live in "Horsetown USA" I had a saddle maker do it for me. It has a pocket for my wireless in the back and a pocket for the slide in the front.

Fender Deluxe Black Leather Flame Strap, 2.5 x 62 inches long. Very comfortable and very long so you can sling your guitar low - as in Page low. It has a Fender logo, but I have one of those too and I guess the emblem can be removed. Best and most comfortable strap I've found.

Actually picked up some cheapo locking straps from MF.. a variation on the cheap nylon strap theme, but with plastic ends that snap/lock onto the buttons. My LP knock off (SX) almost hit the floor once when I was putting it on because it slipped off the buttons. Wasn't going to take that chance with the real LP.

I like the Gator straps from Eldorado. I have a Brown and Black one I use on all of my guitars.

number one, stretch, had them years ago and just found them again :D

:dude:
Been using these for over 20 years. Best weight relief strap for an LP I ever found [and I tried many different things].

The current version is on the bottom. The top one is from the 1980s. :2cool
