I would suggest face-down in a box in a moderately cool, dry area.

Or were you just soliciting offers?

I have wondered about this also.
They take up a lot of space and don't stack up very well.

Anyplace that isn't humid or hot which causes the paper cones to disintegrate and deform. The worse damage is coil rubbing which necessitates a recone.

Do not store against a basement wall or on the basement floor. Never store them in the attic.

If you store speakers in a box, throw in one or two silica gel packs that absorb moisture. Moisture tends to accumulate in closed boxes. The gel packs are included with most new electronic equipment.

If you can store them mounted...that may be a good way. I know that I've found old speakers that appeared to be dried out...so...I'm not sure about the humidity aspect???

I normally cut a piece of cardboard roughly the diameter of the speaker & attach it to the speaker w/a couple wire ties. Then I store them face down, or hang them from a nail on a wall in my shop.

What do you mean don't stack? Speaker boxes stack fine.
That goes without explaining...I hope.
Not all of us have appropriate sized boxes.
Or wall space, shelf space, or floor space.

So the speakers tend to collect on valuable flat surfaces.

Anyone have a source for speaker boxes?
I've tried guitar center, but all I got was stupid looks.
I'll try the folks at Weber next.

The folks at Weber would probably help you out.

I always save the boxes that they come in.

Any good box or shipping store will either have the perfect size in stock or will cut a box down to the perfect size for your speakers. Just tell them exactly what you need.

They should be stored on edge, either mounted or in a box, otherwise you're risking cone sag. More so if you're storing long term. Manufactures don't care beacuse thier just moving them off to sell and stack them flat.

Fed Ex / Kinkos has shipping boxes that are exactly the right size for speakers. Couple of bucks each and totally worth it. Throw a pack of dessicant in there, stack them and call it a day.

If that doesn't float your boat, at least cut cardboard circles out and zip-tie them to the frame to protect the cone.

Agreed. The spider will sag less when on edge. I'm one of the one percent that has room on his walls to hang speakers.

I store pairs wired together at the mounting points using cable ties then wrapped in brown paper. I rotate them every now and then (if I remember). All okay if you have a bit of room.
