Hi all - I've had this truss rod cover in one of my parts drawers for probably 20 years and I've never been able to figure out what it's off of. I got it on an old frankenstein Les Paul that had a 1965ish neck on a 1975ish body. It looks like the 1961 Les Paul cover but it's 3 ply. Any ideas? Thanks....

Mark.

The TRC on a ‘61 Les Paul SG Looks very similar, but not exactly like yours……

There has always been aftermarket TRCs available that can be custom engraved. I had one made for my Les Paul Jumbo until an original became available.

Looks like an SG cover.

Also, early '68s with crown inlay got thoe three ply with "Les Paul" script, but I seem to remember the lettering being smaller?

OP's is rather different from your '68 example, as you point out. His Looks like a newer (2000 -) aftermarket / reissue SG TRC to me.
And yes, would be interesting to know what a '65 ish LP neck looks like..

I know this is an older thread, but I’d like to get your opinion. I’ve had this trust rod cover for like 40 years. It originally came on my 1955 Les Paul Junior. Could this Possibly have come from one of the early 1968 Les Paul’s in your opinion.
Thanks
Mike

To me, it looks like the late 60's version. Thicker script & thinner white border, compared to '61-'62 TRC. A junior would originally come with an all black TRC.

I know it’s not the juniors. I’m just wondering if it is in fact what came on the 68’. I’m gonna have to figure out what I can sell it for.
Thanks

Ok so it looks like it probably is an authentic 68’. I’ll search around and see what they go for.
Thanks
