• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

The return of the almighty JCM 800 2203!

Thanks for the link!

It looks like all the reissues are back. We were just talking about wheteher they were going to continue with these in another thread recently. I guess this answers the question.

Would someone into metric please go to the specs at the bottom of the link and corollate the depth of the 1962 BB RI into inches for me. It says 235 (millimeters?) deep. I am not into metric. Too old! :lol

Thanks!!!

Serial FX Loop!!!

What's really interesting is that the 2203, the 1987X and the 1959SLP all have a Serial FX Loop with a level NOW and a true bypass to maintain the integrity of the original tone...

That's WAY cool!

Seeing those weenie switches tells me we are looking at cheapo ribbon connectors and pcb mounted pots:dead: Who the hell needs a loop with an 800 anyway?

I can understand the reissues of the BB, 1987 and 1959 amps, but not the 2203 *at all*.

Here's why... you can still buy 'em for next to nothing!!!

A 2203 is still my main gigging amp and I think they're great rock amps, but Marshall will be competing against their own history *and* the RI's will probably be inferior amps to the originals.

Also, a 2203 with an effects loop on the back panel would be considered 'hacked' or 'modded' and would therefore fetch less money than a clean, non-modded example.

What's the RRP going to be - do a search on ebay and see what $600 would buy you!!!

IMHO,there are only 4 things you need if you have a 2203-a guitar, instrument cable, speake cable and cab. No loops,no pedals no nothing(well, mabe another 4x12 or 3:halo:lol)

I used my 2203 tonight and got a few compliments on my 'rockin tone' :dude

I only had the MV on '4' as it was a 60 capacity venue (pretty damn small), but I still had the 4x12 :smokin

Guitar was just my 1990 LP std with a JB in the bridge.

The benefit of putting efx loops in the reissue Plexi amps may not be too good an idea since most of the OD is created by the output tubes anyway. I bought a 100 watt plexi with an efx look installed and it did not work too well when the amp was turned up. Had it modded back to original. Better to run a hotplate with efx in the lineout to a second small amp imo.
