• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

I just bought a Les Trem for my Black Beauty. I put it on rather quickly just using the existing tailpeice bolts. Is that a mistake? Should I go ahead and screw in the bolts that were provided with the Les Trem? I notice you have two washers under yours. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Ashbass...thanks for the reply and information. I can see what you are explaining. Knowing me, I will probably use the wrong bolt and strip out the threads in the guitar. Ha! I am going to do it the right way. I think it really does look beautiful on there but unforturnately and don't have the facilities to take a picture. Thanks again for the expaination.

Jignant, I shop at Guitar Center of course! Ha ha. Seriously though, I only buy used at Johny B. Goods. Otherwise Ebay gets me my toys. Sometimes I'll buy parts from Pittsburgh Guitars or DaPra's Guitar Gallery. I'm a basement player and don't get out other than an occaisional jam at Sewickley Academy with some other teachers. What about you?

I try to shop the Mom & Pop stores as well. My dad had a guitar shop in Bethel Park in the 70's and that's where I got my collection started. I mostly shop at Vic's and Lawrence Music in Castle Shannon. I did an apprentice stint with Chris Boyle, the in-store luthier at Swissvale Music in the late 80's. Chris is a stand up guy.
Bandwise, I gig for pleasure in a band called Sweet Daddy. We do classic rock covers but unfortunately, no originals. We stay local in the South Hills and gig once or twice a month only. At 43, I am lucky to be gigging at all.

Best of luck with the setup of that trem & thanks for the pics. Good to meet ya!

Have you been out to the Robinson shops yet? It will be interesting to see what happens between GC & Hollowood. I don't have a good feeling about Hollowood's move from the Rocks. I think it will their downfall. It's a shame that most players will forgo store loyalty and the associated benefits for a few bucks off gear. That is what will shoot Hollowood in the foot.
I would be interested to hear about your experience at Swissvale. It's the Guitar Doctor that I have heard horror stories about... :wha

As far as I know, Johnny B Goods is still part of Hollowood. Maybe that will keep them around. Hollowood's future is pure speculation on my part. I just hate to see small shops being gobbled up by GC. I heard from friends that Hollowood is sparsely stocked at the new location. Have not been to either shop myself yet. :salude

Hey...looks similar to the Bowen Handle from the eighties......
Had one on a Ibanez LP PF 400.Worked okay with Schaller roller bridge but left marks on top of the guitar.
