• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Explain to me how a guitar stamped 81611092 is then ordered on November 1, 1981. What? Stamped somtime in early June...and then it sat around the factory for roughly five months? Also, note the order number. It appears to have been changed with a pen of a different color.

Hmmm....

Finish goes on after the serial number. that guitar then has to dry, have the binding scraped, finish buffed, parts put on, be checked. Be packed. be stocked, etc. Then someone had to ship it to somewhere. It then had to be found and liked enough to be ordered.
that's not such a long time.

Also, That order is for Rick Neilson not Neilsen. and the tuners are 60's Kluson double-line double-ring.

I've seen serial number stampings and order/ship dates that defy all logic. For various reasons, parts did sit unused, or a guitar went back to repair, etc.

Besides the non-spec tuners for a Heritage 80 (spec would have been kidney bean Grovers), the guitar also doesn't have the second four-digit serial number on the back of the headstock that the Heritage series guitars had. But there again, I've seen all kinds of weird exceptions to spec for Heritage 80 models. :)

I wouldn't sweat 'Nielson' vs 'Nielsen' - Check out the spelling of (former CT manager) Ken Adamany's name ;)
