I finally got a chance to get some pics of my 2008 R0. There was some discussion about it on this thread

http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150297

I've had a couple of months now to play this baby and I just can't get over how much different it is from all the other LPs I own and have owned. I have 5 others including 2 custom shops and a preH and this one is special.

I've played a few R9's but this R0 is the first historic I've owned.

It sounds better than any of my other LP's by miles. There is a complexity to the sound that I just cant describe. Maybe its the pickups, but I'm convinced its the whole package thats giving me the sweetest sound I've experienced.

On problem. I have a really hard time switching between this guitar and any of my other Lesters because the fingerboard feels WAY wider with more space between the strings. Its not a bad thing, but I need a good 5-10 minutes of playing after switching before my fingers and brain have recalibrated to the wider spacing.

I love this guitar. It really inspires me to play outside of my personal box. And it smells good, too!

Sorry, once again no sunlight in the tundra I call home.

Very nice top on that one!

VOS or gloss?

VOS. At first I wasn't sure I would like it. The cheesy "aging" on the pickups lookedso fake. I gently touched them up with a piece of nevr-dull and now they just look like cloudy nickel. The lacquer is starting to shine up everywhere I touch it.

I'm liking VOS now.

Here's a wierd thing. When I played the guitar in the store it was great. I got it homw and the bridge pickup didn't work! Took off the control plate and found nothing. Put it back together and it worked.

I meant to look into it in more detail, but got busy and it never happened again. then last night, I found that if I pressed on one side of the pickup it would cut out, press on the other side and its back again. SUCK!

I pulled the pickup, unsoldered the cover and what did I find? The wire that connects the 2 coils to the hot lead was taped, but the tip of the solder was exposed allowing it to ground to the plate!

Aren't these BB 1,2,3 supposed to be Gibsons flagship pickups?

Anyway, I adjusted the tape and moved the connection away from the plate and its 100%. Easy fix, until I accidently did the Peter Greene mod! Had to do the whole job again. Of couse I played and listened to the PG sound for a while before I undid it.

I like that sound, but I like the normal 2 pickup sound even more.
