• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

I saw this new in a store and took it right home. I've had the Epiphone g1275, the OLP ernie ball double and an Ovationmdouble neck. Those only lasted months because... In respective order....

1. too damn heavy.
2. Sounded like a bag of farts
3. Played poorly

This baby solves all of those issues. At he fret work is wonderful, it sounds like a choir of angels and only weighs 10 lbs! Plus it looks the bomb!

I've never seen another like it ever. I'm not even sure what model it's based on. I did see photo of a basic white one with pickguiards and unfinished headstock. This one kills it.

The back is a strange beige color that is starting to grow on me. The gold top has a hint of iridescence in the clear coat. Look straight in and its as gold as a Les Paul, a little angle and it has a hint of olive.

It definitely does 2 birds with one stone for Zeppelin. The double neck for TSRTS into Rain Song, and the Dano sound for the jangly instrumentals and Kashmir.

That looks way coolern' hell!

I had a 12 string acoustic back in the day of the white buffalo and cro magnon man and

loved the sound but dang if I didn't need 4 fat ladies and a team of clydesdales to

string it up and tune it.

You're going to need that plus 3 midgets to string thatern'.

Love those lipsticks!

I suspect it will be easier to take the 6 string neck off while restringing the 12.

I hate restringing as it is, but at least the weight makes it playable once its done. These are my first lipsticks. I love them on the 12, not so much the bridge on the 6. It's really really weak compared to the other 3. Maybe I'll switch them around and see if there is better balance.

Are huge output variations common with these lipsticks?

Not that I've seen.

But my experience with lipsticks has been with Dano's with a single lipstick and on guitars that

I have played rarely but did not own.

Perhaps others that actually own them could chime in.

I always thought they sounded good and rather raw in a tele sorta' way.

Sounds like either a bad pickup or a bad solder joint. Dano pickups are wired in series instead of the more usual parallel. That means that you get more volume with both pickups on rather than the slight drop in the middle position on parallel-wired guitars. You should be able to notice that on the 12-string neck. But something more extreme is going on with the 6, right?

I have one of those Dano doublenecks too. I recently picked up this 1955 Dano, needs a lot of TLC but it's a cool sounding guitar.

Is that top gold or more of a mustard? Mine is almost identical to a LP gold top.

I'm also curious about your double neck. I've not seen any photos of the shorthorn style (like my double) without a pick guard. Mine doesn't have it, and I like it, but I may like one too. Maybe a seal? Can we see yours?

Ok Trapland, stop bitching and MEASURE. Surprise! Both neck pickups measure 3.15k and both bridges are 3.3k plus or minus .05. Wow! That really weak even by lipstick standards! Everything I've read says 4k average.

SO...... I consider this GOOD news! I love the sound in 3 out of 4 pickups and almost ANY replacement for that six string bridge is bound to be hotter and fatter so I just need to replace one! Cool.

It has that mustard yellow covering that looks like a 1950's tablecloth. My doubleneck is a backburst, complete with sagging bridge (since replaced)
